In the piano world, to place in the well-respected Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is an amazing honor.  This year, 2009, two of the youngest competitors, Nobuyuki Tsujii and Haochen Zhang, tied for gold.

On Sunday,  Sept. 20 at 5:00PM, you can hear performances by 19-year old Haochen Zhang on KCSC, 90.1. The works he will be performing include the Chopin Preludes, Op. 28, Stravinsky’s Trois Mouvement de Petrouchka, and an encore by Chinese composer Jian-Zhong Wang. The broadcast features an interview with Zhang about how he became a pianist, the Van Cliburn, and music. It should be interesting!
